Animoca Brands partners with Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) to create blockchain game using Club’s NFTs
Hong Kong-based software and venture company, Animoca Brands, has announced its partnership with digital creators Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) to develop a blockchain game based on the highly popular Bored Ape NFTs.
BAYC is a collection of 10,000 NFT images making waves across pop-culture blockchain spaces with pieces selling for a record of US$26 million at a Sotheby’s auction, making BAYC one of the largest NFT cultural icons across the crypto space.
“NFTs have emerged as a store of culture. There are very few icons that are able to represent the surging world of NFTs as powerfully as Bored Ape Yacht Club, which is why we, as a group and in aggregate, hold a significant number of them” said Yat Siu, co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands.
Every Bored Ape NFT is unique and programmatically generated from over 170 possible traits, with each token granting owners ‘members-only’ benefits ranging from merchandise drops to events, as advertised by the launch announcement.

The game is expected to be released mid-2022 and will feature play-to-earn mechanics
